Collin Caldwell,

Director of Percussion

Collin Caldwell is an active educator, jazz drummer, and percussionist in the Central North Texas area. As a native to Melissa, TX, Mr. Caldwell graduated high school in 2019 and attended Baylor University to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. 

During Mr. Caldwell's time at Baylor School of Music, he participated in a multitude of ensembles including the Baylor Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Golden Wave Marching Band, Symphony Orchestra, Baylor Percussion Group, Theatre Pit Orchestra and various jazz combos and brass bands. Mr. Caldwell was fortunate to study percussion under the instruction of Dr. Todd Meehan, Mr. Arlo Shultis, and Dr. Chris Sies while studying jazz under the instruction of Dr. Edward Taylor and Mr. Alex Parker. Mr. Caldwell also worked with many esteemed percussion artists including Josh Jones, Ivan Trevino, Doug Perkins, George Nickson, Cynthia Yeh, and Shawn Mativetsky. 

Notable performances featuring Mr. Caldwell include Baylor Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra @ TMEA Clinic (2020), Baylor Wind Ensemble @ Midwest Clinic (2022), Baylor Jazz Ensemble in Edinburgh, Scotland (2022), and recordings with the Baylor Wind Ensemble, featuring world renowned clarinetist, Julian Bliss (2023). 

Mr. Caldwell currently resides in Waco, TX and finished his student teaching at China Spring ISD. While on staff with the Cougar Band, the band received 1st place in UIL 4A Area D Marching Contest and 4th place in the UIL 4A State Marching Band Championships. 

Outside of music, Mr. Caldwell enjoys cycling, rock climbing, and brewing craft coffee.
