Daniel Rubiano,
Assistant Band Director
Mr. Rubiano is the former Woodwind Specialist/Assistant Band Director at Southwest High School in Fort Worth since 2021. Prior to that he taught at Bessie Coleman Middle School in Cedar Hill, Texas. Many of his students have gone on to advance and place at the district, region, and area levels. Under his leadership many of the bands have been very successful receiving sweepstakes at the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading evaluations.
Prior to becoming a full-time Band Director Mr. Rubiano private lesson taught at multiple High Schools in Fort Worth. He is still an avid musician and performs regularly with multiple wind ensembles and orchestras throughout the year.
Mr. Rubiano graduated with his B.S. Degree in Music Education from the University of South Florida, in Tampa. He also holds a graduate degree in clarinet performance from Duquesne University where he studied with Ron Samuels, of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. He also studied clarinet with Ivan Petruzziello, Assistant Principal Clarinet of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.
Before going to college he also spent 1 year doing Drum Corps International with Teal Sound advancing to semi-finals at the DCI Championships in Lucas Oil Stadium.
Mr. Rubiano currently lives in Northlake with his wife, Nini, who is also a musician and plays cello professionally around the DFW metroplex. When he is not working, he enjoys playing with his two dogs: Max and Luna, trying out new foods, and hiking.
