Lance A. Walker,
Director of Bands
Lance Walker is in his fourth year as the Director of Bands at Paschal High School. Where he directs the Paschal High School Wind Ensemble, Marching Band & Jazz Ensemble II. In addition to his teaching duties at Paschal, he regularly assists with classes at McLean 7th/8th Middle School as well as McLean 6th Grade Center.
Before his appointment at Paschal High School, Mr. Walker served at North Mesquite High School as the Associate Director of Bands from 2012-2021. During his time at North Mesquite High School, he received numerous UIL Sweepstakes Awards and was a quarterfinalist in the Grammy Music educator award process. (2016-2017) Walker was in the top 290 of over 5000 music educators nominated from all 50 states. More recently, Mr. Walker was inducted into the prestigious Who’s Who Among American Teachers in the 2019-2020 school year.
Before his appointment to North Mesquite High School Mr. Walker was the Junior High Band director at Rockdale Junior High in Rockdale, TX. During his tenure with Rockdale Junior High, Mr. Walker’s bands have consistently earned UIL Sweepstakes awards and were a state finalist in the TMEA Honor Band Process (2012).
Mr. Walker’s professional affiliations include, The Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Band Masters Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, Association of Texas Small School Bands, Texas Jazz Educators Association, National Association for Music Education, National Band Association, and is an alumnus of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He is active as a consultant, adjudicator and trombone performer who frequently serves as a clinician for Concert, Marching, and Jazz Bands.
Mr. Walker holds a Bachelor of Music Education (2008) from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX, and lives in Oak Cliff with his wife of 13 years Christy Walker. In his “free time”, he enjoys working on his 1963 Cadillac Coupe DeVille as well as restoring vintage radios, pinball machines, jukeboxes, and is an avid Scuba Diver.
